Crew Bios

Ben Carland – Writer/Director

Ben has directed projects ranging from feature films and television programming to music videos and commercials. His latest music video LONG SHOT, for the acclaimed group The Steep Canyon Rangers, was released this summer through Rounder Records. Ben wrote and directed the recently released feature film SOL, which made its international debut at the London Sci-Fi Film Festival this year.

The movie is currently playing the festival circuit in Europe, Asia and North America and is available for viewing worldwide. Ben recently wrapped production on FUTURE LEGENDS, a multi-camera reality TV series that’s now in post production and he’s currently in development on the feature version of the fantasy frightener THE DAWN TOWER.

Ben has been a huge fan of sci-fi for as long as he can remember. From witnessing the bold, sweeping style of “Blade Runner” to the wondrous sense of exploration and discovery in “Close Encounters,” he’s been hooked for life. He’s thrilled to bring the production of SHADOWS ON THE WALL to his hometown region in North Carolina.

Anderson Ellis – Producer

Anderson is a litigation attorney by trade and film fanatic by choice. He is licensed in North Carolina and Tennessee, and handles the coordination and legal planning for the many moving parts of this project. From contracts to leases to securing filming rights, Anderson uses his legal expertise to facilitate the project getting made efficiently and expeditiously.

Anderson is excited to merge personal interest and professional skill on SHADOWS, and is the point-person for those interested in getting in touch with the filmmakers.

Nick Gillespie – Cinematographer

Nick has developed his passion for photography and imaging since childhood. While traveling with his family one summer at the age of fourteen he stumbled onto the work of Ansel Adams and was never the same. Cameras became more than just a tool to him then – they became a gateway to translate images from the imagination and bring them to life. He’s always had a camera with him – either still or motion – ever since then.

His work has taken him around the world shooting photojournalism and commercial projects in such diverse locations as Alaska, Germany and China. Nick has collaborated with Ben on several shorter projects and is excited to put his love of creating images to use and translate that experience to a motion picture such as SHADOWS.

Alexander Davis – Composer

Alex is an award-winning composer whose work has been featured in film, commercial and television productions around the world. His music has recently been featured in performance at Lincoln Center and NYU’s Steinhardt Center, and has also been placed in numerous IBM, Visa, Lowes, and GE advertisements. He serves as Music Director for The Obsidian Collective and was the composer and orchestrator for SOL, DAWN TOWER, and dozens of award-winning short films.

Alex Vieira – Production Manager

Alex has filled a variety of production and technical roles on film and TV sets across the country. He served as 1st AD on SOL and recently traveled the US with Food(ography), starring Mo Rocca. He has additional production experience with TLC, CBS, AOL, and dozens of commercials.
